Earthships - Taos, NM

Michael Reynolds is an architect, innovator, and founder of Earthships. For more than three decades, he has been using recycled materials to build self-sufficient, off-the-grid housing. When he looks at "waste" Michael sees raw materials for sustainable living -- structures that might someday shelter large numbers of people. By putting elbow grease behind his vision, Earthships can be found all fifty states and around the world. He feels that these Earthships are not only homes but symbolic ships that sail on the seas of tomorrow.

I love the line: "We invented garbage. There is no such thing as waste or garbage in nature, with plants and animals."

Wonderful site, great clips - we love it! Especially nice since they're so short and sweet, each able to convey simply an important thing to think about. Congratulations! - Tom and Amy

Love it! Again, that thinking outside of the box that we will need desperately as the world reaches peak oil production and world supplies begins to rapidly drop off (and become incredibly expensive as supply diminishes). I'd like to have seen more on this man's angle towards solar heating of water (and use of photovoltaics?) -- it's something that's an excellent supplement; solar preheating of water - especially in cold climates (and yes there's still plenty of hours of sunlight even in northern latitiudes for solar to be an effective energy source).

thanks to the producers for spreading the word on useful alternatives!

More people need to listen and to realize what we need to do. It may be too late....... I hope not. Get Green everybody !
I wish we had more organization to get more Earthships built.

One way of building the world is through our own initiative. The best lesson that we can get from all the things that are happening around the world is that we get what we give. I think making small steps now can make the future brighter for the next generations.

Love the webisodes, love their lenghts - but would also love if they were teasers for a longer documentary. I would watch them all. Especially a documentary about making useful stuff out of "everyday garbage items", like the chair from bike-tires in the beer-docu :D

Awesome concept, don't be afraid to get educational!
